Dark Subtle Teas by Régime des Fleurs Takes Tea into Darker Woods
Régime des Fleurs’ new limited-edition extrait is built not around transparent green tea, but black tea, rooibos and maté. It is a small but distinct shift in mood—from bracing tea freshness to a more intimate composition.

Tea notes usually play a familiar role: they lend a fragrance light, dry clarity and a trace of bitterness. With Dark Subtle Teas, Régime des Fleurs proposes a different scenario: tea is not a backdrop for citrus, but the centre of the composition.
The fragrance arrives in the Fait Main Extrait line, the brand’s series of small, handmade limited editions. Its creator is Alia Raza, founder and perfume director of Régime des Fleurs. The format matters beyond collectors: for the brand, Fait Main is a space for freer, time-limited experiments that need not be designed for the permanent collection.
The stated pyramid features three tea materials at once: black tea, red rooibos and maté. Bergamot and bitter orange open the composition; benzoin brings resinous warmth, while cedar, patchouli and vetiver lead it into a dry woody base. This structure suggests neither a sweet tea dessert nor aquatic freshness, but an infusion with bitterness, earth and a woody shadow.
Raza emphasises that she worked with unusual tea extracts, while the citrus and benzoin are there to keep the passage into the formula’s darker side smooth. It is a telling gesture in tea perfumery: rather than recreating the familiar image of a cup with lemon, the fragrance builds the texture of the brew itself—tannic, resinous and slightly herbaceous.
Dark Subtle Teas should not be filed in advance under cosy autumn fragrances simply because of the word tea. Maté and vetiver may make it noticeably drier, and bitter orange more austere than familiar tea-and-citrus compositions. Its longevity, trail and development on skin can only be judged fairly after independent wear tests: the brand describes an artistic intention, not a testing result.
For collectors, the news lies in the format itself: a 30 ml extrait from a limited series, available from the brand until 19 October while supplies last. For tea-fragrance enthusiasts, another point is more interesting: Dark Subtle Teas invites them to seek tea not in a fresh opening, but in its depths, where astringency meets benzoin, wood and patchouli earthiness.
If familiar tea fragrances seem too clean or decorative, Régime des Fleurs’ new release is worth trying as a darker interpretation of the theme. It is best chosen after meeting a sample: here, the deciding factor will be not the note list, but the balance of bitterness, resin and dry greenery on your own skin.
