Heretic Flying Ointment — an October 2026 launch

Heretic’s new fragrance grew out of the brand’s nighttime balm, with just 500 numbered bottles in its first run. Here is what to expect from this forested, resinous composition—and who may find it compelling.

Heretic Flying Ointment — новинка октября 2026

Sometimes a fragrance begins not with a fashionable note, but with the scent of a product you want to return to each evening. That is how Heretic has moved Flying Ointment from a nighttime balm into an Eau de Parfum.

The name refers to the folkloric image of “flying ointments,” and the brand frames it as a nocturnal ritual. In perfume terms, though, something else matters more: rather than decorative mysticism, it promises a dense botanical texture of resins, woods, roots and damp earth.

Flying Ointment lists attar mitti, guaiac wood, vetiver, patchouli, oakmoss, frankincense, seaweed, angelica root, cedar and clove among its notes. Attar mitti is commonly associated with the smell of earth warmed after rain; alongside vetiver, patchouli and moss, it gives the composition an earthy, slightly dry direction. According to the brand, frankincense and guaiac add a smoky resinous quality.

This is not a fragrance promising universal “cleanliness” or carefree sweetness. Its stated materials suggest a darker, herbaceous, woody mood. Anyone drawn to an unusual idea in independent perfumery will be better served by trying it on skin than by relying on the name and note list alone.

Flying Ointment is released as an Eau de Parfum in a 100 ml bottle. The first Black Label Batch No. 1 is limited to 500 pieces, hand-filled and finished with numbered labels. The brand lists the price at $350.

There is one practical detail for such a small and costly launch: a 2 ml sample accompanies the full-size bottle. It can be tested before opening the main package; if the seal remains intact, the brand allows returns within 30 days.

For collectors, this is above all a limited debut with a clearly defined character. For everyone else, Flying Ointment may be a reason to discover how closely earthy, resinous and rooty accords suit their own taste—without expecting a familiar “pretty” perfume gesture.

The brand states that it ships to the continental United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. The published information does not mention sales in Russia or a wider international rollout.
