Description

Ambra balances resinous amber and vanilla with aromatic herbs, citrus and earthy woods.

Ambra by Etro, released in 1989, opens with fir resin, lemon, geranium, coriander, bergamot and rose. Labdanum, patchouli and styrax form a dark, balsamic heart. Amber, vanilla, opoponax and musk create a warm base that remains aromatic and softly powdered rather than simply sweet.

On skin

Sensory profile

Clear daylight falls across fir resin, lemon peel, geranium and coriander, bringing fresh definition to materials usually associated with warmth. Rose adds a quiet floral shade before labdanum, patchouli and styrax darken the scene. Amber, vanilla and opoponax then settle into a smooth resinous glow, held close by musk.

Practice

Where to apply

Ambra is particularly suited to autumn and winter, but its aromatic citrus opening also allows daytime or meeting wear. Reported longevity is mainly moderate, while projection data varies and leans intimate overall; skin and application may shape the result considerably.
