SHIRO Ginza turns four seasons into fragrance, with a potpourri lab
On 6 November, SHIRO will open its two-storey Ginza flagship in Tokyo. The brand has created four local SHIKI FRAGRANCE scents for the store, alongside a workshop where visitors can compose their own scented potpourri.

Buying a fragrance rarely takes just half an hour, from the first inhale to a finished keepsake. At SHIRO’s new Ginza space, that journey will become part of the visit: a seasonal, store-exclusive collection takes centre stage, while upstairs visitors can work with dried plants, wood and flowers.
The flagship will open in the Ginza Building at 3-3-12 Ginza. The ground floor references the earthen floor of a traditional Japanese home, while the second floor is filled with plants and flowers. SHIRO’s familiar categories—fragrance, skincare and makeup—will be available here, but the main reason to visit is the SHIKI FRAGRANCE line.
The collection comprises four compositions inspired by the seasons and the history of the district. Each will come in a 40 ml bottle and be sold exclusively at the Ginza store for ¥5,060. For travellers and collectors, this is an important detail: there is currently no indication of a wider international release.
Spring — Sakura
Sakura is built around cherry blossom and willow moving in the wind. In its stated development, sakura and white freesia give way to iris, the fresh green character of cherry wood and white musk—a spring scene intended to remain airy rather than turn into a sweet floral accord.
Summer — Bamboo
The summer composition links bamboo with the reflections in Ginza’s shop windows. Its listed notes include watery and airy facets, bamboo, gardenia and green rose. On the stated note list, it is the coolest and brightest of the four scenes.
Autumn and winter — Matcha and Akari
Matcha brings together the idea of matured green tea and the brick streets of old Ginza: bergamot, grapefruit and lime lead to green tea and jasmine, with amber, musk and cedar in the base. The winter scent, Akari, is dedicated to the district’s gas lamps and the warmth of a light on a cold evening; its stated notes are bergamot, neroli, cardamom, jasmine, rose, clove, sandalwood and cedar.
The second floor will house the Potpourri Blender Lab. Guests can choose dried plants, wood chips and flowers, then add one of the SHIKI FRAGRANCE scents to their composition. Materials will change with the seasons, so a return visit promises a different mix of textures and colours.
The workshop costs ¥3,960, including the finished potpourri; SHIRO says the experience takes around 30 minutes from start to collection. The store will be open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, with closing days varying.
The new Ginza location turns a local collection into a reason to spend more time with fragrance than usual. The four bottles tell the seasons one by one, while the workshop offers visitors a way to make their own version of that calendar for home.
