Description

Red contrasts vivid cherry and aldehydes with spiced flowers, amber, moss and dark woods.

Red begins with cherry, aldehydes, ylang-ylang, hyacinth, peach, osmanthus, orange blossom, bergamot and black currant. Carnation and tuberose lead its intricate floral heart, while oakmoss, amber, myrrh, sandalwood, olibanum, vetiver, tonka bean, patchouli, cedar and vanilla build a deep, warmly spiced base.

On skin

Sensory profile

Transparent daylight catches lacquered cherry, pale peach and bergamot peel among glossy green leaves. Aldehydic brightness lifts ylang-ylang, hyacinth and orange blossom before the scene deepens into carnation, tuberose and rose. At ground level, oakmoss and patchouli meet amber, sandalwood and resinous shadows. The result is visually composed but richly layered: fresh colour moving toward warmth, wood and earth.

Practice

Where to apply

Red favours autumn and winter and leans toward evening, though it can also command a daytime meeting. Its warm floral-woody structure suits cooler weather especially well. Reported projection is often beyond arm’s length and longevity frequently lands in the longer ranges, so start conservatively indoors.
