How it feels

A flash of citrus crosses a dark golden surface, followed by the dry sparks of pepper, clove and cinnamon. The light then sinks into layers of labdanum, benzoin, myrrh and styrax, where vanilla and tonka feel plush rather than simply sugary. Patchouli and vetiver add earth and grain; castoreum lends a darker warmth. The image is slow-moving, burnished and full of tonal depth.
