Al Haramain Perfumes was founded by Kazi Abdul Haque in 1970. His perfume trading business began with several stores in Makkah and Madinah, and the first bottle appeared in the summer of that year. Retail contact with customers and the company's own fragrance production therefore developed alongside one another from the beginning.

The founder's idea was connected with the aroma of oud in Makkah. This material provides an important historical reference point, but does not turn the entire modern catalogue into variations on one woody theme. Oud explains the original cultural and material interest; individual compositions, their structures, and their authorship need to be considered separately.

The name Al Haramain refers to two mosques: Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. According to the company, its logo represents Maqam Ibrahim beside the Kaaba. The name is therefore connected not with an abstract oriental image, but with the cities where Kazi Abdul Haque began his business.

The company links the next family stage to the founder's son, Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman. A visit to distilleries in Ta'if developed his interest in perfumery and his ambition to introduce this tradition to a wider audience. This continuity carried the early retail model into international growth without severing its connection with the original fragrance culture.

Today Al Haramain describes itself as a producer and retailer of niche fragrances. The company reports nearly one hundred stores in the Gulf region, numerous partners elsewhere, and a presence in more than 100 markets. This geography shows how a local beginning became a multi-level system of company stores and partner retail.

Within a range of this size, the historical connection with oud remains a starting point, but selection should be based on the specification, concentration, and stated structure of an individual fragrance.

Al Haramain also places particular emphasis on raw materials. The company states that its ingredients are ethically sourced and that its directors personally take part in finding and selecting them in different regions. Once materials reach the perfumery, perfumers work on the balance and nuance of the formulas. Together these elements form the house's identity: its trading origin in 1970, family continuity, an international network, and controlled work with materials.
