Amouage
Amouage is an Omani high perfumery house founded by the Albusaidi family in 1983 as the “Gift of Kings.” Its language draws on Oman, a historic centre for frankincense and myrrh, and brings that heritage into dialogue with international contemporary perfumery.
Brand story and character
Amouage was founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983 by the Albusaidi family as the “Gift of Kings,” with the purpose of reinterpreting the Arabian art of perfumery. Oman’s historic relationship with frankincense and myrrh gives the house a concrete cultural and material foundation rather than a decorative idea of the East. Amouage develops this inheritance through modern high perfumery and collaborations with perfumers working in Paris, Grasse, Geneva, and New York.
Its Manufacture and Visitor’s Centre in Muscat present the process from maceration to filling and packaging, reinforcing the importance of craft and place. The main collection runs from the original Gold Woman and Gold Man to lines including Jubilation, Epic, Dia, Reflection, Honour, and Interlude. Across them, flowers, resins, woods, incense, and spices are arranged in layered structures that develop over time. Amouage therefore occupies a distinctive position in contemporary perfumery: a local tradition becomes an international creative language without losing its Omani identity.
