Hugo Boss

HUGO BOSS was founded by Hugo Ferdinand Boss in Metzingen in 1924. The company publicly acknowledges the forced labour used at its factory during the National Socialist period and has expressed deep regret to those affected. After the war it gradually moved towards men's suits, and BOSS began to take shape during the 1970s through modern tailoring, fit, function, and restrained confidence. BOSS was registered as a trademark in 1977 and later expanded across clothing, accessories, sport, and fragrance. The first perfume licence followed in 1984, allowing scent to translate the brand system through bottle, name, composition, and image rather than literally reproducing tailoring. HUGO, established in 1993, became the younger pole, combining contemporary cuts with casualwear, denim, and individual expression. BOSS generally speaks through polish and classical structure; HUGO introduces a freer and more informal energy. The Collection compares certain BOSS fragrances with clothing textures such as wool, velvet, and leather, while HUGO Man serves as an originating scent for the HUGO line. Together they form two complementary fragrance identities within one German company.
