BORNTOSTANDOUT
Jun Lim launched BORNTOSTANDOUT in Seoul in April 2022, turning a collector's passion into a house devoted to self-expression and resistance to imposed norms. White bottles reinterpret Joseon porcelain, while red lettering creates a deliberate conflict with the image of purity. Indecent Cherry continues that device in scent, giving sweet cherry a sour, spicy, earthy side.
Brand story and character
BORNTOSTANDOUT grew from Jun Lim's long-standing interest in fragrance. In 2021 he left banking and sold a significant part of his art collection to fund his own project. The house launched in Seoul in April 2022 as an independent Korean label with a distinctly personal voice. That launch date belongs to the fragrance house, not to the beginning of Lim's interest in scent or the preliminary development of its concept.
For Lim, perfume had been a way to find identity and confidence since adolescence. BORNTOSTANDOUT therefore describes neither a place nor a material, but a position: fragrance does not have to help its wearer blend into the surroundings. The house speaks to people who choose individuality even when it appears awkward or strange.
Its visual code is built around white and red. Bottle forms reinterpret the white porcelain of the Joseon era, associated with restraint and purity. Red typography and provocative names disturb that calm surface, combining respect for Korean tradition with a deliberately contemporary gesture.
Production is also tied to Korea: the house states that bottles are filled, assembled, and packed in the country, while perfume oils are sourced globally. It claims a fragrance concentration of 30–40% for the core eau de parfum line. Those figures remain manufacturer specifications rather than a promise of identical performance on every skin.
Indecent Cherry was created by Florian Gallo. Sweet cherry opens with almond and saffron. Almond amplifies the fruit's marzipan aspect, while saffron adds a dry, leathery spice, immediately moving the composition away from the idea of simple cherry syrup.
Sour cherry and strawberry change the balance in the heart: the berries retain juiciness but acquire a pronounced tartness. Bulgarian rose and mimosa supply floral volume. Rose makes the center darker and more velvety, while mimosa brings a softer, powdery light.
Vanilla and amber restore warmth in the base, while Indonesian patchouli, musk, and benzoin hold the sweetness within a denser structure. Patchouli creates earthy contrast, benzoin resinous softness, and musk an even finish. The innocent fruit image gradually reveals a more adult character.
Indecent Cherry is offered as an eau de parfum in 7.5, 15, 50, and 100 ml and is made in Korea. The primary page does not give an exact original release date, so the queue's local date is not used as verified chronology. The perfumer, note pyramid, concentration class, and formats come from the current product page.
