ELLA K Parfums
ELLA K Parfums is the French house of founder and master perfumer Sonia Constant. Its fragrances are conceived as olfactory memories of travel, turning landscapes, colors, and moments into compositions. The imaginary heroine Ella K, a dragonfly emblem, and a bottle resembling a camera create a shared language of exploring the world.
Brand story and character
Sonia Constant is presented by the house as ELLA K's founder and master perfumer. She has worked at Givaudan since the beginning of her professional career, creating compositions for major brands and developing a style of her own. ELLA K gave her space for a more personal and unrestricted conversation about travel, memory, and ways of seeing the world. The house does not publish an exact founding date here.
The name refers not to a direct self-portrait but to an imaginary heroine. The house cites explorers Ella Maillart, Karen Blixen, and Alexandra David-Neel among her cultural models. This figure makes it possible to structure the collection as a sequence of routes and moments while preserving the distinction between Sonia Constant's biography and the literary character Ella K.
Travel becomes a working method for the house. Constant carries a Leica camera and Moleskine notebook to capture images and thoughts. Scent Trek technology is used for smells, allowing an impression to be analyzed and translated into a formula later. Color, atmosphere, and landscape are the beginnings of a composition rather than merely an advertising story added afterward.
Visual details support the same idea. Japanese artist Senjiro Nakata transformed the dragonfly, a symbol of metamorphosis and courage, into a mark resembling the letter K. The bottle's minimalist geometry recalls a camera. Both elements speak of movement and capturing a moment, but they do not replace the differences between the fragrances themselves.
Myrrh K combines sunlit flowers and bitter almond with Omani halwa, honey, toasted sesame, saffron, and dates. Jebel Akhdar rose adds a transparent rosewater facet, while myrrh connects the gourmand section to resin. Tonka bean, Madagascar vanilla, and Omani cedar form the warm finish.
Amber K grew from impressions gathered on a trip to Punta Cana. Pink pepper, spider lily, and a Havana cigar motif open the composition; orris, cocoa, white cedar, and Indonesian patchouli form the heart. Tonka bean, olibanum, amber, and vanilla connect tobacco density with sweet woody-resinous warmth in the base.
Camelia K refers to a camellia found during a journey to Sapa in northern Vietnam and the visual atmosphere of the film In the Mood for Love. Blood orange and dragon fruit create a vivid fruity opening, red camellia and orange blossom a floral heart, and tonka bean and vetiver a contrasting warm-dry base.
The three Collection K compositions offer different profiles. Myrrh K combines oriental sweetness with myrrh and woods; Amber K builds a dark tobacco-cocoa amber accord around spider lily; Camelia K moves from juicy fruit to a red floral heart and vetiver. Sonia Constant's creative method connects them, but the specific pyramid determines the choice.
