Kate Spade New York
Kate Spade New York traces its history to 1993, when Kate Spade launched the Manhattan brand with a small set of handbags. Its world later expanded to clothing, shoes, jewelry, and home objects while preserving color, graphic clarity, and an optimistic tone. Interparfums develops this character in fragrance, and Louise Turner created the 2023 Chérie.
Brand story and character
Kate Spade New York appeared in Manhattan in 1993. Its early image grew around handbags and the idea of a lively, accessible urban style. Color, clear form, and light irony became lasting codes that later moved into clothing, shoes, jewelry, and home objects.
In 2017, the brand joined Tapestry. Ownership history should be separated from fragrance licensing history: these are different business levels and different dates, even though they concern the same name.
In June 2019, Kate Spade and Interparfums signed a global exclusive fragrance agreement. It took effect in January 2020 for ten years and six months. The licensee's report begins the new line with Kate Spade New York in 2021, followed by Sparkle, Chérie, and Bloom.
Chérie launched in 2023. Louise Turner created the formula. Its name and presentation continue the brand's bright, open manner, but the scent character comes from its precise pyramid rather than the bottle color.
Redcurrant and raspberry form the berry opening. Currant contributes tartness, while raspberry provides softer juiciness. Sweet pea meets jasmine sambac in the heart, moving the fruity opening into transparent floral territory.
White woods, Ambrofix, and musk make up the base. Woods give a dry contour, the amber material adds warmth and volume, and musk smooths the transitions. This finish keeps the composition from feeling like pure berry syrup.
The current Kate Spade page shows Chérie as a 60 ml eau de parfum. Check each offer's format separately: an encyclopedia profile describes the composition and its place in the line but does not replace seller information about stock or product condition.
