Lengling Munich

Lengling Munich is a pure-perfume house founded by Christian and Ursula Lengling in 2014. Each composition is built as a dialogue between two contrasting LENG and LING accords, named after parts of their surname. Personal memories, Munich identity, and long development connect an emotional image with precise construction.

Brand story and character

Maison Lengling appeared in Munich in 2014. Christian and Ursula Lengling founded it, turning a personal interest in scent and contrast into an independent perfume house. In 2021, the brand opened its first flagship boutique near Munich Cathedral, strengthening the collection's bond with the city.

The main structural principle is called LENG/LING. Each fragrance is built around two opposing accords that argue, complement, and balance each other on skin. Their names are derived from the Lengling surname, making duality the house's shared grammar rather than one isolated series.

Ursula Lengling begins with a feeling, memory, or mental image. Developing one composition may take two or three years and involve many trials and returns to the original idea. Christian takes part in this journey as her closest interlocutor. Separate credits for outside formula perfumers are not published for the three fragrances considered here.

Munich is present in the object as well. The metal Isarkiesel cap reproduces the shape of a pebble from the Isar River and is polished by hand. It is not simply a decorative texture but a permanent geographic sign on every bottle. The house also states that its perfumes are crafted in Munich.

Figolo is structured as the portrait of a charismatic personality. The “Charming” LENG side combines mint, aldehydes, musk, ylang-ylang, Hedione, and Iso E Super. The “Dominant” LING side opposes them with patchouli, cedarwood, tobacco absolute, cypriol, and leather. A transparent green-floral section meets dark woods and leather.

Sekushi No 7 uses a more immediate tension between sweetness and leather. Its “Leather” accord includes leather, patchouli, olibanum, musk, and rosewood. “Fruity Sugar” combines cotton candy, raspberry, apricot, lily of the valley, and orange. Bright fruity confectionery does not conceal the resinous leather foundation but exists beside it.

Apero No 8 translates the dual principle into a summer-evening image. “Sparkling Drink” is built from Chardonnay grapes, lime, petitgrain, mimosa absolute, and ginger. “Summer Night” combines natural oud, jasmine absolute, heliotrope, tonka, Cashmeran, and musk. Sparkling freshness gradually meets warm floral-woody density.

The three fragrances show the range of one system. Figolo opposes cool transparency to tobacco and leather; Sekushi sets sugared fruit against a dark leather-resin section; Apero contrasts the citrus impression of a sparkling drink with oud, flowers, and musk. LENG/LING helps read each composition, while specific materials create a new balance every time.
