Brand story and character

Adidas grew from the Dassler family's shoe business, established in Herzogenaurach in 1924. After the family partnership ended, Adi Dassler registered the new company on 18 August 1949.

Practical sporting performance shaped the identity. Samba appeared in 1950 for cold football pitches; Germany's 1954 victory increased visibility; equipment joined the range in 1963; and from 1970 Adidas supplied official footballs for major tournaments.

Three stripes, a concise wordmark, functional materials, and clear silhouettes made Adidas equally legible on the field and in urban culture. Originals later translated sporting heritage into lifestyle.

Fragrance continues the themes of movement and daily energy. Reference catalogues date the earliest perfume to 1990 and include Adidas Originals, Emotions in Motion, Adidas Vibes, and UEFA Champions League.

Adidas remains a globally recognisable sports and lifestyle name whose perfumes extend an accessible, energetic identity rather than forming a separate niche house.
