Brand story and character

Brioni was established in Rome in 1945. Its founders brought different experience to their shared venture: Nazareno Fonticoli was a master tailor, while Gaetano Savini was an entrepreneur. The house focused on menswear, so its story begins not with an abstract image of luxury but with the suit, the silhouette, and the work of the atelier.

In 1952, Brioni staged the first menswear fashion show in the Sala Bianca of Florence's Palazzo Pitti. Menswear was presented there as a runway collection. The event became an important part of the house's history and broadened the idea of what a men's fashion show could be.

Brioni operates an atelier in Penne, in the Abruzzo region. Its craftspeople continue to use tailoring techniques employed by the house since 1945. Two geographical anchors have consequently shaped the brand: Rome as its birthplace and Penne as the home of its artisans. Brioni has belonged to the Kering group since 2011.

The fragrance range includes Brioni Eau de Parfum. Created in collaboration with Michel Almairac, the composition belongs to the woody floral aromatic family. These details describe a contemporary fragrance but do not establish it as Brioni's earliest release: the precise starting date of the house's fragrance history remains unknown.

Les Extraits de Parfum forms another part of the range. The series comprises four extracts with distinct olfactory profiles: the leather floral Iris Exquis, woody musky Encens Minéral, amber spicy Labdanum Brut, and woody green Papyrus Éternel. This structure presents the collection as four independent profiles rather than repetitions of a single theme.

Brioni's fragrance catalogue places its core Eau de Parfum alongside a more specialised series of extracts. Michel Almairac's involvement in the Eau de Parfum, the composition of Les Extraits, and the directions of all five fragrances are documented. The house's first fragrance, the year the line began, and its licensee have not been established in the available history and are therefore omitted from the chronology.
