Cerruti
Cerruti is an Italian fashion house with deep roots in family textile making and a maison launched in Paris in 1967. Nino Cerruti translated the experience of the Biella mill into modern clothing and later fragrance. Fashion and scent now share the same calm, composed aesthetic.
Brand story and character
The Cerruti story begins with fabric. Its official legacy reaches back to a family of weavers in the 1700s and to Antonio Cerruti's establishment of Lanificio Cerruti in Biella in 1881. Material skill, precise fit, and considered form consequently matter more than decorative display.
Nino Cerruti inherited the family business in 1950 and broadened its textile expertise into fashion. In 1967 he presented clothing for women and men at his boutique on Place de la Madeleine, establishing the Italian house within a Parisian context.
Ease, clarity, and freedom from heaviness define the aesthetic. Tailoring remains fundamental but supports modern life rather than becoming an archival quotation.
Fragrance follows the same logic. Reference histories date the first scent to 1978, followed by names including Nino Cerruti, 1881, Image, and L'Essence de Cerruti. Current lines such as 1881 Pour Homme, 1881 Pour Femme, Silver Night, Rêve De Roses, Vivo Elixir, and Vivo Homme show perfume as a sustained part of the house.
Cerruti therefore has a two-layer identity: Italian family knowledge rooted in Biella and a Parisian maison shaped by restrained intellectual elegance. Its fragrance feels like a personal continuation of that structure rather than a separate showcase.
