Christian Dior

Christian Dior established his Paris house at 30 avenue Montaigne in 1946. On 12 February 1947, he presented the first collection there, introducing the silhouette later called the New Look. Parfums Christian Dior and Miss Dior also appeared in 1947. Created with perfumer Paul Vacher and sprayed through the salons during the show, the original green chypre made fragrance part of the collection's atmosphere rather than a later accessory.

Citrus, flowers, and patchouli gave it a structured contrast between freshness and depth. Dior regarded himself as both couturier and perfumer: clothing shaped visible presence, while scent added an invisible trail and memory. This connection continued as the fragrance business expanded into a major creative field, including La Collection Privée Christian Dior.

Francis Kurkdjian created Eau Noire and Cologne Blanche for early stages of that collection under Hedi Slimane and became Perfume Creation Director of Parfums Christian Dior in October 2021. His role adds a contemporary chapter without displacing the house's layered history. Dior continues to treat perfume as an equal expression of its aesthetic, translating silhouette, gardens, flowers, colour, and material into compositions that evolve on skin.
