Brand story and character

Ellen Tracy appeared in 1949 as Herb Gallen’s blouse company. Linda Allard became design director in 1964 and expanded the label’s approach to women’s clothing and sportswear.

In 1984, the Linda Allard name was added to the Ellen Tracy label, formalising her creative role. By 2001, the range included fragrance, accessories, footwear, jewellery, and home products alongside clothing.

The eponymous Ellen Tracy scent has a complex pyramid. Peach, plum, cinnamon, galbanum, hyacinth, osmanthus, bergamot, and green notes open it; the floral heart includes rose, orchid, ylang-ylang, tuberose, carnation, freesia, jasmine, and lily-of-the-valley.

Its base lists sandalwood, musk, cedar, amber, oakmoss, tonka bean, and raspberry. The structure makes it a layered catalogue landmark, moving from fruit, green notes, and spice into abundant flowers and a warm woody foundation.

Bronze is arranged differently. Lemonade, mandarin, bergamot, and green apple lead into violet leaf, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and lily-of-the-valley; heliotrope, coumarin, amber, vanilla orchid, and cedar form the base.

The eponymous Ellen Tracy and Bronze offer two different introductions. Ellen Tracy combines fruit, greenery, and spice with a large floral heart and a woody-amber base. Bronze opens with lemonade, citrus, and green apple, then moves into honeysuckle, orange blossom, and a soft amber foundation.
