Etro
Etro is the Italian family fashion house that grew from a Milan textile business. Since 1968, paisley, ornament, home collections, and fragrance have formed one decorative, gently eclectic, and immediately recognisable world.
Brand story and character
Gerolamo “Gimmo” Etro established the company in 1968 with textiles as its primary language. Fashion, accessories, home, and fragrance subsequently emerged as connected expressions rather than unrelated categories.
Paisley became the signature during the early 1980s. It carries associations with textile memory, travel, and ornament, giving Etro a softer and more narrative form of Italian luxury.
A home line followed in 1985 and fragrance in 1989. Women, men, children, interiors, and perfume now allow the same aesthetic to move through several environments.
Etro fragrance shares the layered quality of its fabrics. A long-term agreement with Coty in 2024 for perfume and home scent confirmed the continuing importance of this direction.
L Catterton took control in 2021, Marco De Vincenzo assumed creative direction for womenswear, menswear, and home in 2022, and the founding family completed its exit in 2025. Textile, ornament, Italian origin, and measured decoration nevertheless remain the enduring core.
