Hermetica

Hermetica Paris is a fragrance brand launched by Clara and John Molloy in 2018. Its starting point was Source¹, both the brand's first fragrance and a base used in its other compositions. Brand story and character

The story of Hermetica Paris began in Paris in 2018. The brand associates its launch with Clara and John Molloy and identifies Source¹ as its first fragrance. Its role extends beyond an individual release: according to the house, Source¹ forms the base of other compositions, while it can also be worn alone. The collection thus centres not on one recognisable note, but on a shared technological base.

Hermetica Paris formulas contain no alcohol. The brand says its fragrances perfume and moisturise the skin simultaneously, with a patented base used in each composition. The materials include 'green molecules' obtained through a patented process from bagasse, the fibrous residue left from sugarcane stalks after their juice is extracted. Combining fragrance composition with proprietary technology has become one of the brand's principal identifying features.

The first points of sale appeared soon after the launch. Hermetica Paris arrived at Harvey Nichols in London in August 2018 and at Bloomingdale's in New York in October. These two dates show that the brand expanded beyond France from the outset, reaching customers through major department stores in London and New York.

Packaging forms another strand of its history. In a 2019 entry, the brand mentions a bottle made from recycled glass. In 2023, the next stated step was fully recyclable paper packaging. These developments complement its declared work with materials inside the formula: environmental considerations appear in both the composition and the product's exterior.

The brand history explains the idea of Source¹ and the structure of the alcohol-free base in detail, but neither lists the creators of every fragrance nor provides a complete dated chronology of the collection. The most accurate Hermetica Paris profile therefore rests on confirmed points: its 2018 launch, its founders, formula technology, first retail locations, and successive packaging changes.
