Isabey Paris

The Isabey story begins in Paris on 5 March 1924 with the creation of Société Parisienne d’Essences Rares & de Parfums. Baron Henri James de Rothschild supported the project. The precise date distinguishes the company's foundation from later presentations of its fragrances.

The Isabey name was inspired by a French painter. At the Paris decorative-arts exhibition, the house presented six fragrances. This appearance indicates the scale of the early collection but does not identify the creators of all six formulas.

Le Lys Noir, dated 1924, is named as the house's first fragrance. La Route d’Emeraude belongs to the same year. Fleur Nocturne appeared in 1925, while Prends-moi dates from the early 1930s. These provide four historical points rather than a complete period catalogue.

Panouge Group acquired Isabey Paris in 1999. Creative director Rania Naim leads the house's contemporary direction. The change of owner establishes the business frame of the revived house without demonstrating that early formulas remained unchanged.

Historical names reappear through modern editions. The detailed differences between the original and later formulas are not disclosed, however. The year and version consequently matter when considering a particular bottle.

Isabey Paris has four dated historical reference points: Le Lys Noir and La Route d’Emeraude from 1924, Fleur Nocturne from 1925, and Prends-moi from the early 1930s. When choosing, distinguish an original release from its modern edition.
