KILIAN PARIS
KILIAN PARIS is a French perfume house founded by Kilian Hennessy in 2007. Memories of Cognac cellars, night culture, five olfactory families, and a desire to make invisible scent tangible shape its language. Composition, bottle, material, and gesture form one scene.
Brand story and character
KILIAN PARIS began in 2007 with ten fragrances. Founder Kilian Hennessy grew up within a family associated with French Cognac, and the smell of oak barrels saturated with spirit became a key imaginative source. The cellar is a language of memory rather than a limit on the catalogue: wood, alcohol, darkness, air, and time provide structures for composition. Straight to Heaven and the idea of the “angels' share” show how a biographical scene can become perfume without literally recreating a cellar.
The current catalogue is organised around five olfactory families: The Fresh, The Narcotics, The Cellars, The Smokes, and The Liquors. They work as narrative maps rather than rigid classifications. Hennessy's aim to “make perfume visible” explains the equal importance of bottle, touch, ritual, packaging, and scent. Design is not secondary decoration but a material stage for an immaterial composition.
The founder directs each creation while working with perfumers, drawing on memories, travel, artists, and cultural associations. Nightlife and seduction in the house's language concern both self-expression and protection: fragrance can announce a presence while maintaining a personal boundary. From its first ten scents in 2007, KILIAN PARIS has treated perfume as a complete object and scene.
