Laura Ashley
Laura Ashley grew from the family textile business begun by Laura and Bernard Ashley in London in 1953. Romantic prints, home textiles, and feminine clothing became an international lifestyle brand whose floral, green, and woody perfumes share the same English softness.
Brand story and character
Laura Ashley began in a London workshop in 1953, where Laura and Bernard Ashley printed Victorian-inspired scarves and patterned textiles. Fashion, interiors, and fragrance later formed one lifestyle image.
The brand moved beyond textiles during the 1960s and became an international retailer by the late 1970s. Floral print, natural fabric, gentle decoration, and English romanticism remained the defining codes.
Fragrance began in 1979. L'Eau followed in 1995, alongside No. 1, Dilys, Serene Meadows, Joy of Primrose, Wild Woodland, No. 1 Noir, No. 1 Pour Homme, and Blush Rose. Green, floral, herbal, and soft woody notes extend the home and wardrobe aesthetic.
After entering administration in 2020, Laura Ashley relaunched and passed to Marquee Brands in January 2025. The image of English romance, decorative restraint, and calm femininity nevertheless endured.
