Laurent Mazzone
Laurent Mazzone Parfums is a French fragrance house founded by Laurent Mazzone in 2000. His route into scent passed through DJ work, fashion shows, and his own boutique in Grenoble, where candles and the first compositions Noir Gabardine, Ambre Muscadin, and Patchouly Bohème appeared. Perfumer Olivia Giacobetti guided his creative development.
Brand story and character
Laurent Mazzone grew up in a family with Italian roots and became interested in fragrance at the age of twelve. Music and fashion later became a practical school of imagery: he worked as a DJ, took part in fashion shows, and worked with style. This background helps explain why LM Parfums is constructed around stage, visual, and tactile impressions as well as notes.
Mazzone opened his first fashion boutique in Grenoble. There he developed a candle line and three fragrances: Noir Gabardine, Ambre Muscadin, and Patchouly Bohème. The positive response from customers encouraged a separate fragrance project, while meeting Olivia Giacobetti helped him enter the professional field more deeply.
In 2000, Mazzone founded his own fragrance house as a workshop for the senses. Fashion remained part of his vocabulary but ceased to be the only category: fragrances were joined by candles and other objects for interiors. Music, night culture, materials, and rich oriental notes formed a field in which different compositions receive independent stories.
The brand's object code is visible in the bottle. Laurent Mazzone designed its form and structural lines himself after a trip to New York, inspired by the city's architecture at night. Vertical edges and a weighty silhouette translate the image of a building into a small object; label and box colour distinguish the collections without changing the core construction.
Sensual Orchid shows the white-floral and gourmand side of the catalogue. Mandarin, almond, and neroli open the composition, followed by orchid, jasmine sambac, peony, and heliotrope. Vanilla, musk, blond woods, white cedar, labdanum, and benzoin form a warm base in which floral and almond nuances meet resinous sweetness.
Black Oud moves in a darker direction. Nutmeg, cumin, and incense provide a dry spicy opening, with labdanum and oud at the centre. Sandalwood, cedarwood, vanilla, amber, and civet intensify its woody and animalic depth. Its character comes not from oud alone but from the contrast between spices, resins, sweetness, and a warm animalic base.
Dulce Pear refers to the founder's Italian roots through an image of orchards and ripe fruit. Pear is joined by fresh green apple, orris, and ambrette, while cedarwood and brown sugar add woody and caramelised contours. Compared with Sensual Orchid and Black Oud, it is a more transparent fruity-powdery route.
The three compositions show the LM Parfums range: white flowers and vanilla, spicy oud and resins, pear and powdery orris. Rich texture and attention to imagery connect them, but choosing requires comparison on skin. The house's history links its early fashion boutique, the founding of the perfumery in 2000, and an architectural bottle in which each formula receives its own scene.
