Brand story and character

Louis Féraud is a French house in which fashion and the founder's personality are closely connected. Records differ on the earliest chronology, citing a boutique in 1947, a first Maison de Couture in 1950, and the launch of a couture house in 1958. It is therefore more accurate to see the brand as taking shape throughout the 1940s and 1950s.

Féraud expanded from couture into ready-to-wear. A 1970 agreement with the German company Fink supported a women's line, menswear followed in 1975, and Golden Thimble awards in 1978 and 1984 confirmed its place in French fashion.

Fantasque appeared in 1981 and was distributed through Avon Cosmetics in 1982. Vivage followed in 1984 and Cote d'Azur in 1988, establishing perfume as a sustained extension of the fashion image.

Later ownership changed: Secon Group acquired Féraud in 1999, and ESCADA took a 90% stake in 2002. Licensing and commercial lines became more important, while the founder's name, couture associations, and early fragrances preserved recognition.
