Maison Tahité — Officine Creative Profumi
Maison Tahité is an Italian Kaon Lab fragrance project created in 2020. Under the creative direction of Roberto Drago and art direction of Daniela Caon, the brand explores gourmand materials through three main themes: vanilla, cacao, and coffee. Each collection presents several independent interpretations of its chosen ingredient.
Brand story and character
Maison Tahité appeared in 2020 as one of Italian company Kaon Lab's own brands. The company defines it as a creative workshop that explores emblematic perfume materials and translates them into a contemporary language. Instead of arranging its catalogue around conventional fragrance families, the project builds separate cycles around individual raw materials.
Roberto Drago leads the creative direction of Maison Tahité, while Daniela Caon oversees its art direction. Different perfumers are commissioned for the compositions: participants named by the company include Luca Maffei, Lucien Ferrero, David Maruitte, Marie Duchêne, and Arturetto Landi. This model retains a shared theme for each collection while allowing the authorial style to change from fragrance to fragrance.
The catalogue's three central directions are devoted to vanilla, cacao, and coffee. They do not merge into one compulsory formula: each material becomes a starting point for a series of variations. Vanilla can be powdery, resinous, or praline-like; coffee can be milky, spicy, woody, or leathery; cacao enters into dialogue with fruits, spices, and dark base materials.
Vanilla² was created by Marie Duchêne as a concentrated study of vanilla. Vanilla flower opens the composition, followed by vanilla, praline, and powdery notes, while vanilla meets benzoin in the base. Repeating one material at different stages of the structure explains the name and creates a cohesive but not simplistic gourmand profile.
Coffee Bomb by Arturetto Landi offers a more elaborate construction. Coffee, milk, saffron, cardamom, and black pepper open the fragrance; the floral heart includes iris, heliotrope, jasmine, and rose; vanilla, cacao, incense, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka, leather, musk, and treemoss appear in the base. The coffee theme develops through spices, flowers, and a dark, layered foundation.
Velvet Coffee presents another version of coffee. Cardamom and cacao lead to a coffee accord, iris, cedar, and benzoin, then to sandalwood, oakmoss, leather, patchouli, vetiver, vanilla, and Ambroxan. Compared with Coffee Bomb, it distributes milky, woody, and earthy nuances differently while retaining coffee as its conceptual centre.
Maison Tahité's environmental idea is expressed most directly through its packaging. Kaon names cardboard, vegetable glue, and paper made from almond shells; a plantable card is also placed inside the box. These details do not replace the fragrance concept, but extend an attentive approach to materials: one ingredient is explored in scent, while physical material choices become part of the brand's presentation. Content and container therefore follow the same principle of considered material use.
