Brand story and character

Cigar, released in 1996, opens with plum, bergamot, pineapple, pear, and lemon. Dark and bright fruit are supported by citrus freshness. Bay leaf, marigold, geranium, and jasmine form the heart, giving the floral notes an herbal and spicy outline.

The base establishes the main theme of Cigar. Tobacco is combined with patchouli, sandalwood, Virginia cedar, and musk. The woods support the dry character of the tobacco, while musk smooths the transition from the brighter fruit opening.

Cigar Black Wood followed in 2014. Bergamot, nutmeg, saffron, and grapefruit make up the top notes. Coconut appears with lavender, myrrh, and violet in the heart. Tonka bean, guaiac wood, patchouli, and cedar form the base. Unlike Cigar, tobacco is not listed directly; spices, woods, myrrh, and tonka take the central roles.

The two releases show the Cigar line developing in different directions. The original moves from fruit to a tobacco and wood base. Black Wood creates a spicier opening, introduces an unusual combination of coconut, lavender, and myrrh, and ends with woods and tonka. Patchouli and cedar appear in both bases, linking the scents despite their different accents and release years.
