Brand story and character

Roberto Capucci opened his first atelier on Via Sistina in Rome in 1950. A presentation in the Sala Bianca at Palazzo Pitti in 1952 placed him among the designers shaping postwar Italian haute couture.

Sculpture, geometry, and colour became defining concerns. Linea a Scatola appeared in 1958, a Rue Cambon atelier opened in Paris in 1962, and a 1970 show at the nymphaeum of Rome's Villa Giulia treated fashion as an artistic event.

Capucci left the official fashion calendar in 1980 to present his work as independent creative pieces. Roberto Capucci Foundation was established in 2005, followed by a museum at Villa Bardini in Florence in 2007.

Roberto Capucci consequently represents both fashion and the cultural history of Italian authorial dress through sculptural construction, exhibitions, and archival continuity.
