Brand story and character

Bernd Freier opened the 25-square-metre menswear boutique Sir Oliver in Würzburg in 1969, beginning a practical fashion business that would expand across categories.

During the 1970s the company developed closer production links. A relationship with Indian manufacturing in 1975 strengthened its ability to respond to demand.

A dispute with the 4711 brand led Sir Oliver to become s.Oliver in 1978, with the new mark registered in Germany the following year.

Licences introduced shoes and eyewear in 1997, an online store followed in 2004, and a new headquarters opened near Würzburg in 2008. By 2016 the company had adopted a multi-brand holding structure, and a refreshed logo appeared in 2021.

The “real life” idea explains the brand's practical silhouettes, comfort, and calm presentation across everyday clothing.

Licensed fragrance extends the same language into a more personal format without replacing fashion as the central identity.
