Gritti
The modern story of Gritti began in 2009 with the first fragrances bearing the family name. The house is led by Luca Gritti, its creator and the creative force behind its compositions. Gritti produces its fragrances in Bologna; its catalogue includes the Black Collection, White Collection, and the southern Italy-inspired I Turchesi.
Brand story and character
The modern Gritti brand began in 2009, when the first fragrances bearing the family name appeared. Luca Gritti created the house as a tribute to his family history and its longstanding connection with Italian perfumery. He leads the brand and defines the creative direction of its compositions.
The first releases formed the Black Collection. It includes 19-68, Decimo, and Rebellion. This line became the catalogue's original division and established black presentation as a distinct part of the Gritti system.
The White Collection followed later. In it, Luca Gritti explores different aspects of femininity through floral, fruity, and gourmand families. The white line is a separate thematic chapter rather than the Black Collection repeated in another colour.
I Turchesi is dedicated to southern Italy, its colours and scents. It introduces a geographical theme and links the fragrances with a particular region. Alongside the black and white lines, it forms an independent direction based on a sense of place.
The three collections organise the range according to different principles. Black preserves the historical link with the first releases; White establishes a theme and names olfactory families; I Turchesi uses geographical imagery. The house can thus vary the way it groups fragrances while retaining Gritti as their common signature.
Luca Gritti personally selects fragrance ingredients for the compositions. His role extends beyond leadership and general concept to the materials from which each fragrance is formed. This personal selection connects creative decisions with the subsequent in-house production cycle.
Gritti Venetia remains a family business with its own production in Bologna. The internal cycle begins with the idea and formula, continues through hand-filling the bottles, and ends with external packaging. These stages take place within the house's production system.
The brand states that it uses environmentally responsible materials, supports Italian craftsmanship, and develops the business sustainably. These principles concern production methods and material choices. Together with family management and the Bologna site, they shape Gritti's business profile.
The house's modern identity therefore rests on its 2009 beginnings, Luca Gritti's role, three distinct collections, and an in-house production cycle. 19-68, Decimo, and Rebellion represent Black; White explores floral, fruity, and gourmand directions; I Turchesi looks to southern Italy.
