Versace
Versace is an Italian fashion house founded by Gianni Versace in Milan in 1978. Its powerful visual language and expressive runway aesthetic extend into a fragrance line that carries the same unmistakable house codes.
Brand story and character
Founded in Milan in 1978, Versace built a unique place in Italian fashion through contrast, ornament, theatricality and sensual energy. The Medusa emblem became one of the industry’s most recognisable symbols.
After Gianni Versace’s death in 1997, the house maintained continuity under family leadership. Fashion, accessories, footwear, fragrance and home collections continued to speak one coherent visual language.
Versace entered fragrance early, with its first recognised line dating to 1981. Bright Crystal, Crystal Noir, Yellow Diamond, Eros and Dylan Blue later became prominent names, treating scent as a defining part of an image rather than a background detail.
Atelier Versace sustains the house’s couture identity. Prada Group completed its acquisition of Versace in December 2025, beginning a new corporate chapter while the brand remains rooted in Gianni Versace’s legacy and Italian visual audacity.
